Located at Baltray, formerly a fishermans village at the mouth of the River Boyne, just north of the heart of the historic Boyne Valley region & medieval town of Drogheda rests County Louth Golf Club (Est 1892). Just 45 minutes north of Dublin Airport this Links course is centrally located for any golf tour of Ireland’s great East and North coast links courses. The golf course sits on a 190 acre site of seaside links terrain and has built a reputation of being one of the finest and most enjoyable courses in Ireland.
The present layout remains largely unchanged from the design laid out by renowned architect Tom Simpson in 1938. The course has two nine hole loops – A remarkable feature of the layout as it winds its way through the dunes is that the player seldom feels that any two holes play in the same direction. Consistently ranked among the top 10 courses in Ireland, this classic links has hosted many top amateur and professional events, most notably the Irish Open in 2004 & 2009.
A History of Great Play
Co. Louth Golf Club, also known as Baltray, has a history of hosting notable amateur and professional tournaments, including the Kingspan East of Ireland Championship. The club has also served as a venue for regional qualifying for The Open Championship.
