Re-opened in July 2009 following an extensive refurbishment program, The Torrance Golf Course offers a challenge to both amateurs and professionals alike. A Final Qualifying course for The Open and Home to the Scottish Seniors Open, the improvements on The Torrance Course were conducted under the direction of golf course architect Gary Stephenson and former Ryder Cup Captain Sam Torrance. With eight holes redesigned, the course now offers a great test and multiple risk/reward opportunities on many of the holes. The deep revetted bunkers and links design makes The Torrance one of Scotland’s most dramatic and challenging courses.
A History of Great Play
The Fairmont St Andrews in Scotland has hosted several notable tournaments, primarily on the Torrance Course. These include the AXA Scottish Championship in 2020 and the Hero Open, returning for a second staging. The course has also been a venue for the Scottish Senior Open and Final Qualifying for The Open, and in 2023, it became the first Scottish venue to host an Asian Tour event with the inaugural St Andrews Bay Championship
